Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look at the Brake Buddy 3 Portable Braking System on a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek. Now there are five required components when flat-towing a vehicle, and the first one, starting on the vehicle side is going to be the base plate. And the base plate attaches to the frame of the vehicle and that's gonna allow for all your connection points for your other components. Now, going along with that you see our tow bar here is actually attached to that base plate, and that's gonna make that connection between the vehicle and the RV. Next, you have your safety chains and that's gonna attach to the loops on your base plate and also to the side of the camper and that way, if they do become disconnected for whatever reason, these chains are gonna hold this in place. more

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer today on our 2017 Subaru Cross Trek. We're gonna be showing you how to install the Road Master Brake-Lite Relay for towed vehicles. But before we do that, why don't we check it out and I'll show you how it works So the whole point of a brake light relay is to make sure that everything is good to work properly, in regards to the lights on the back of your Subaru, so what happens, is whenever you're hooked up to your motor home, and this is a scenario if you we're not to have the brake light relay, all right So if you're hooked up to your motor home and let's just say, you're on the brakes and using your turn signal at the same time. So maybe, just to kind of give us an example here, if you're approaching a stoplight and gonna be making a left turn. So, we've put a blinker on, get over into that turn lane and then hit the brakes and we're sitting there at the stop sign or the red light. What will happen is, that brake light will override your turn signal, okay. more

But before we do that, why don't we check it out, and make sure that this is gonna work for you. So before we get too carried away, actually talking about the braking system and kind of checking it out, I figured it'd be useful to just kind of refresh ourselves and touch base on the main components that we're gonna need to flat tow our vehicle down the road, in the first place. Presenter: Today, on our 2017 Subaru Forester, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Brake Light Relay Kit for towing vehicles, part RM-88400. Keep in mind this is only one component of our flat tow setup. You're going to need a base plate, tow bar, and a braking system along with the tow bar wiring. Also, keep in mind that you want to have your wiring installed before you put the brake light relay in.Whenever you flat tow your Subaru, you're going to want tow bar wiring so that the brake lights, turn signals, and running lights match your RV. But, whenever we turn our turn signal and the brakes are applied, the brakes are going to override the turn signal, and our light is going to go solid. Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Subaru Forrester, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox Patriot II radio frequency proportional portable braking system, part number BRK2016.A common problem when flat towing a car, in our case our Subaru is that you get that pushing feeling when you come pup to a stop or potentially a lot of swaying when you're going down the road. Now this is where proportional braking systems going to come in to play and alleviate a lot of those problems.Our Patriot II is going allow our Subaru to use its own brakes to slow it down and alleviate some of that sway and pushing feeling when we're towing it. Because we're not purely relying on our motor homes brakes to slow down both vehicles. Our Patriot II is going to provide us with proportional braking. Keep in mind you will need a few parts to complete your flat tow set-up on your Forrester. We'll need a base plate, tow bar, wiring kit and a braking system.So here's what our Patriot II's going to look like. It is going to be a small, compact system that we're going to be able to take out of our car whenever we're not towing. Now, our braking system is going to be a proportional system and this is going to result in a synchronized braking between our car and our RV. It's going to apply the brake pedal in the same intensity and time that our RV is applied.There's going to be a built-in electric actuator that's going to move the arm to press the pedal out which is going to take a lot less power than an air compressor. more

Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System Installation - 2016 Subaru Forester- Video
Today on our 2016 Subaru Forester, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System, part number RM-8700. As the harder you press on your brake car of your Coach, the more you're going to apply the brakes in the vehicle helping the vehicle slow down and save wear and tear on your Coach. The system is going to operate automatically once you've plugged in your vehicle to your RV. There's no setup after the initial setup of the installation. The actuator box is going to mount neatly under a seat or in an access panel in the rear of your vehicle. The InvisiBrake system is compatible with hybrids and other continuous power-assist automobiles as well. It does come with a warning lamp. more
